3/17/12 “NO DIG GARDENING” by Dottie Wright, Horticulturist, 10am at Dammann's South location, 5129 S. Emerson Ave.; call 786-0799 to register; no charge. Looking for a fast and easy way to grow a veggie garden? Attend class and learn four methods – lasagna, straw bale, square foot, and container gardening - that are stress free and low maintenance. Handouts and door prizes!

3/31/12 “LANDSCAPE DESIGN WORKSHOP” starting at 9:00am by appointment at Dammann's Southside location; 5129 S. Emerson; call 786-0799 to register; $20.00 nonrefundable fee. (certificate for $20 will be given to each participant.) Classes by Jim Johnston, Landscape Designer; Dottie Wright, Horticulturist & Perennial Specialist; Julie Holtsclaw, Arborist; Courtney Stellhorn, Horticulturist; and Becky Harrison, Nursery and Perennial Consultation. Preparation requirements are the following:

  • Rough map of the lot and house with measurements; zoning regulations
  • Note good features and eyesores surrounding property;
    printed photos of landscaping sites.
  • Lifestyle needs due to animals, children, nature

6/2/12 “LET’S MAKE A FAIRY HOUSE” at 1:00pm at Dammann's Southside location, 5129 S. Emerson; call 786-0799 to register; cost $12.00. Young ladies with creative imaginations are invited to attend this special class. Fairies need houses, too! A child accompanied by an adult will create a natural abode for their outside fairy garden. Fairy gardens are all the rage!

11/17/12 “ENGLISH WREATH CLASS” adult class at 10:00 am at Dammann's Southside location: 5129 S. Emerson; call 786-0799 to register; cost $39.99 nonrefundable for supplies. This is really a fun class where you will design a beautiful wreath and share creative ideas with all participants! This class fills fast; we have many repeats from previous years. Plan to attend with a friend or family member. It’s bonding time!

11/17/12 “LET'S MAKE A GINGERBREAD HOUSE” children's class at 1:00 pm Dammann's Southside location; 5129 S. Emerson; call 786-0799 to register. Graham crackers, icing, and lots of candy – who could ask for more! We guarantee that there will be no two houses alike, and you will not be disappointed with the results! Cost is $10.00 for supplies and snacks; ages 2-10 with responsible adult. Class limit: 15 participants.


~ Garden Clubs ~

Please consider holding your 2012 February or March daytime meetings at Dammann’s West location at 4914 Rockville Road. We provide greenhouse production tours and a 2012 Season Plant Preview (or a lecture on your chosen subject) at no charge to clubs. In addition, we’ll provide steamy, hot coffee and homemade cookies, and a green, friendly environment for your meeting!
